Bill Dreher and Ralph Hart did a terrific job with the tournament - which benefits Safe Haven, our State Major Project!
Signup forms for the Fall tournament will be available in the Call and at the lodge as soon as the schedule is complete.
Reno/Tahoe is advertised as "America's Adventure Place", and if your idea of an adventure
is taking on some challenging golf courses, well, you're in the right place!!!
We've been doing something a little different this year, trying to get a group of Elks together each month
to play one of the many wonderful courses available in the area - including Carson City - and so far it's been a LOT of fun.
Summer Weekend Rates for 2008 are shown on the list below to give you an idea of what to expect from each course...
We've already visited 4 local courses - Washoe, Rosewood Lakes, Dayton Valley, and Sierra Sage
and on June 28th we're playing Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City.
We've already arranged for 6 tee times for our group at a special rate of $45!
Our first tee time is 10:30 so get your name on the 'Signup' sheet posted in the lobby of the lodge
If you want to see what's available in the area, follow the links below.
Carson Valley in Gardnerville - $46
Eagle Valley East Course in Carson City - $40
Empire Ranch 27 holes in Carson City - $45

There are many other courses available, although the prices are considerably higher than those listed above,
and visits to those courses can be arranged if enough players are interested. Day trips to Califoria courses in the
Auburn or Sacramento area can also be arranged if enough interest is generated.
The PRIMARY objective of this whole plan is to get together with fellow Elks and enjoy a round of golf!
The most recent play date was Saturday May 31st at Sierra Sage golf course in Stead, just north of Reno.
Sixteen people signed up and we met at the course early enough to get in some practice,
but from the results I saw on the scorecards, some of us didn't get quite enough of THAT!!!
We drew cards for foursomes and cart partners and when the first group teed off, the rest of the gang was right there lending some support.
Well, it sounded more like laughter, but support is probably what they REALLY meant!!!
After the round, we picked 9 holes at random and chose the best score from each twosome and totalled up the numbers.
The results were surprisingly close, as Mark Nelson and Ralph Hart (35) barely edged out Bill Dreher and Mark Sasada (36).
If you're sitting around the house looking for something to do one day and golf sounds like it might be a fine way to spend the day,
just remember that there always seems to be a golfer sitting at the bar at the lodge!
If you're looking for someone to join you, stop by the lodge, or call and see if anyone's interested in joining you...
It's always more fun when you're playing with a friend!
